Climbing Champion Janja Garnbret books ticket to Paris 2024

Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Janja Garnbret secured her spot in Paris 2024 by winning the women’s boulder & lead World Championships at Bern in Switzerland.

The championships, which came to a finish on Saturday, were the first sport climbing competition to qualify for the Paris Olympics, where there will be two competitions with separate victors.

One will consist of a bouldering and lead competition, while the other will solely have a speed event.

Slovenian Garnbret, who won the women’s boulder competition last Saturday, established a lead in Bern’s boulder round and sealed her return to the Olympics with another strong lead performance.

Austria’s Jessica Pilz and Japan’s Ai Mori joined Garnbret on the podium, taking another two tickets to Paris.
