India defeated Ireland by 33 runs in the second T20I on Sunday at The Village in Dublin thanks to a strong all-around effort. With this win, the team led by Jasprit Bumrah also sealed the series with a lead of 2-0.
After being asked to bat first, India racked up a difficult 185/5 in 20 overs. India’s batting was led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 58 runs off of 43 balls. After India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (18 off 11 balls) and Tilak Varma (1 off 2 balls) within the powerplay overs, he and Sanju Samson formed a crucial 71-run partnership.
Sanju Samson was dismissed by Benjamin White for a 40 (26). After that, Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube came on with powerful cameos, scoring 42 runs in the final two overs. Dube scored 22(16), remained umbeat, while Rinku scored 38(21).
Ireland’s reply
Ireland’s response had a disastrous beginning, almost like India’s. In his first over, Prasidh Krishna delivered two blows, and in the final over of the powerplay, Ravi Bishnoi added a third.
No other Irish hitters could resist the Indian bowling assault, led by captain Jasprit Bumrah, with the exception of Andrew Balbirnie, who smashed 72 off 51 balls. Ireland could only manage 152/8 in 20 overs, and the captain, Jasprit Bumrah along with Krishna, and Bishnoi each concluded with two wickets.
