When India’s Virat Kohli faced Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, he became the player to reach 13,000 ODI runs the fastest. In just 267 innings, he broke the 34-year-old record of fellow Indian veteran Sachin Tendulkar (321 innings). In ODIs, he scored his 47th ton. With this century, Kohli has now recorded four straight 100-point performances at this stadium, which ties him with Hashim Amla for the most such feats at a single location. The remaining three tons were directed towards Sri Lanka; two came in 2017 and one came in 2012. The sixth player in men’s ODIs to reach the milestone is Kohli, who now has 13,000 ODI runs under his belt. Before him, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Mahela Jayawardene had accomplished the feat. He became the player to attain this milestone the quickest; Sangakkara (363), Ponting (341) and Jayasuriya (416) all required more than 300 innings to do so.
