The world’s top spot, which the Americans had previously lost late last year, was now shared by Spain and the Americans in the new rankings that were announced on Friday. The world rankings now include Spain at No. 2 and World Cup champion Germany at No. 3, which is a record for that programme. In November 2022, Spain passed the U.S., ending the Americans’ 12-year reign as global leaders.
The top 10 teams are the United States, Spain, Germany, Australia (which dropped one spot to No. 4), Canada, Argentina (which dropped three spots to No. 7 after not even making the World Cup field), Latvia, France (which dropped four spots to No. 9) and Lithuania (which dropped four spots to No. 10). World Cup silver medalist Serbia (which climbed one spot to No. 5) is also among the top 10 teams.
