Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita, and Ashi Chouksey, the women’s 10m air rifle team from India, won the nation’s first medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
The group shot a total of 1886.0 in the individual qualification round to win silver. With 1896.6 points, China successfully defended its gold medal, while Mongolia confirmed its bronze with 1880.0.
Ramita, who ultimately came in second, was the team’s top performer with a score of 631.9. Mehuli came in sixth with 630.8 points. With a score of only 623.3, Chouksey placed far outside the top eight, meaning that only two Indians will be vying for a medal in the final later on Sunday. The five-year-old Asian record was broken by the Chinese trio of Han Jiayu, Huang Yuting, and Wang Zhilin on the way to their total. China itself held the previous record, which was set in 1893.
