India wins two gold medals in the compound team archery competitions

The Indian compound archers highlighted yet another fantastic day at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre during the Asian Games by extending their mixed team form into the men’s and women’s team events and winning two gold medals. Current world champions women’s team played with poise in tense championship game to defeat Chinese Taipei 230-229. South Korea was defeated by the men’s trio of Pravin Deotale, Abhishek Verma, and Prathamesh Jawkar in the championship match 235-230.

The women’s team of Aditi Swami, Jyothi Surekha, and Parneet Kaur scored just one ten in six tries and trailed by two points in the opening set of the championship. Four 9s and a rare 8 helped them finish the opening sequence with 54 strokes. India was unable to record even one perfect set due to the wind, while their opponents could only make one shot that was 60/60.  Later, the men’s team brought double happiness to India. The men’s trio defeated Korea by a margin of five shots despite not being able to shoot a perfect series.

Ojas, Abhishek, and Prathamesh had performed well enough to guarantee India a third compound medal despite the Koreans shooting a perfect 60 in the final series.
