Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India defeated Choi Solgyu-Kim Wonho of South Korea 21-18, 21-16 to capture a historic gold medal at the Asian Games. The Indian combination staged repeated mini-comebacks to win the first game in 29 minutes.
But in the second game, the Indians applied pressure to their opponents and won the 57-minute contest. After defeating Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the round of 16, Satwiksairaj and Chirag became the first Indian badminton doubles team to ever win the gold medal at the Asian Games.
