Asian Shooting Championship: The junior women’s 10m air rifle team from India wins gold

At the Asian Shooting Championships in Changwon, Korea, the Indian women’s junior 10m air rifle team, made up of Sonam Uttam Maskar, Gautami Bhanot, and Jasmeen Kaur, won the gold medal and set a junior meet record.

The team finished on the top podium with an overall score of 1891.6. In 2019, the Asian junior record of 1883.3, held by the Indian trio of Mehuli Ghosh, Elavenil Valarivan, and Shreya Agarwal, was broken by Sonam with 632.6, Gautami with 631.9, and Jasleen with 627.1. In addition, Gautami earned the individual silver medal, finishing second to Jiao Ruoxuan of China with a score of 252.4. Sonam came in fourth.

Abhinav Choudhary won gold in the men’s juvenile 10m air rifle event with a score of 241.8, while Priyanshu Yadav, who had also advanced to the finals, came in fourth. Urva Chaudhary, who had scored 573 in the qualification round, took home the bronze medal in the women’s juvenile 10m air pistol final with a score of 218.5. Sanskriti Bana and Kanishka Dagar advanced to the eight-shooter finals as well, however they placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
