In 2024, the Formula One season will feature sprint races at the Miami and Chinese Grands Prix, the organisers confirmed. For the second year in a row, there will be six sprints, following the addition of the format in 2021 to three racing weekends.
Having held one apiece last year, the races in Belgium and Azerbaijan will not be competing in the sprint on Saturday. Sprint races will once more be held at the US, Austrian, Brazilian, and Qatari Grands Prix. The winner of each sprint race will receive eight championship points. Max Verstappen of Red Bull will attempt to win the drivers’ world championship for a record fourth time in 2019 following a record-breaking 2023 campaign in which he won four sprint races and 19 of the 22 races.
