Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty remained on track for the men’s doubles crown after advancing to the semifinals with a straight-game victory, but PV Sindhu was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the French Open Super 750 badminton competition. The world number one Indian pair, who won the title in 2022, advanced to the semifinals with a 21-19, 21-13 victory over Thailand’s world number 32 Supak Jomkoh and Kittinupong Kedren at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle.
The Asian Games winner, who had upset Malaysian pair of Man Wei Chong and Kai Woo Tee on Thursday night, will next encounter world champion and third seeds Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae, who had beaten the Indian combination in the India Open final in January this year.
