Royal Challengers Bangalore broke its franchise league jinx by defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to win the second season of the Women’s Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Chasing 114, Smriti Mandhana and Royal Challengers relied on important contributions from Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry to cross the line in the last over. Shreyanka Patil previously served as RCB’s wreaker-in-chief. She took four wickets and helped her team reduce DC to just 113 in 18.3 overs.
Sophie Molineux reversed the tide for the Royal Challengers by dismissing Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Alice Capsey in a single over. RCB spinners took nine wickets, the most by any side in the WPL history.
The Bengaluru-based franchise has yet to win a title in the Indian Premier League.
