John Catlin won the International Series Macau with a birdie at the final of a dramatic playoff , capping off his recovery from “a rough last two years”.
On a day with low scoring, American Catlin missed a five-foot birdie putt at the 18th hole in regulation, which would have given him a six-under par round of 64 and the victory by one shot.
Instead, his 65 tied him for the lead at 23-under with LIV golfer Puig, who shot a 10-under 60 in the final round, including nine birdies and an eagle.
The 22-year-old Spaniard Puig started the day five strokes behind Catlin, who broke the Asian Tour record with a 59.
The pair returned to the par-five 18th for the playoff, when Puig’s bunker shot for eagle ricocheted off the flagstick.
