Prime Volleyball League: Jerome Vinith leads Calicut Heroes to title win

Jet Jerome and Janbaaz Jerome are some of the nicknames given to veteran Indian international Jerome Vinith. These nicknames accurately describe his playing approach on the field, especially now that he has led the Calicut Heroes to a 3-1 victory over the Delhi Toofans in the Prime Volleyball League season three final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. Vinith, who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall, appeared to be at his best as the squad relied on him to win. The finals were a classic example, as he scored 16 points, one more than the Toofans’ best two scorers, Manoj Kumar (8) and Santhosh S (7).

Upset by this treatment, Kishor took it upon himself to ensure that the 31-year-old made his point to the crowd and selectors. Vinith, as expected, rose to the occasion, winning seven Player of the Match accolades this season, including Best Spiker and Most Valuable Player with 161 points, 150 of which came from attacks.
