Jannik Sinner defeats Grigor Dimitrov for the Miami Open title

Sinner, the 2024 Australian Open winner, won the Miami Open for the first time in a faultless display on a 79-degree afternoon, improving his season record to 22-1. Sinner was runner-up twice in 2021 and 2023.

Despite the audience roaring on the Bulgarian underdog, the 22-year-old played with confidence in his second Miami Open final appearance (he lost to Daniil Medvedev last year). Sinner finished it in 1 hour and 13 minutes with a backhand winner. Dimitrov, 32, is ten years older than Sinner and will enter the top ten for the first time since 2018. Sinner also reached a milestone, rising from third to second place – the greatest ranking of his brief career and in Italian history.
