Sreeja Akula, the mixed doubles champion of the Commonwealth Games, replaced Manika Batra as the top-ranked Indian women table tennis player on Tuesday, climbing to a career-high rank of 38 in the most recent ITTF Chart.
In the most recent update, Manika, who had been ranked as the top table tennis player in India for some time, dropped two spots to 39, while Sreeja rose one notch.
The 25-year-old Sreeja has had a successful year, finishing in the quarterfinals of the WTT Star Contender in Goa and taking home the crowns from the WTT Feeder Corpus Christi and WTT Feeder Beirut in January and March, respectively.
Sreeja and seasoned player Sharath Kamal had won the mixed doubles gold medal in the 2022 CWG.
