Georgia, Spain qualify for 2027 Rugby World Cup

Georgia and Spain have secured their spots in the men’s 2027 World Cup in Australia following their respective victories over the Netherlands and Switzerland in the Rugby Europe Championship, as announced by World Rugby.

Georgia, qualifying for their seventh consecutive World Cup, defeated the Netherlands 40-7 on Saturday, advancing to the semifinals of the competition for Europe’s second-tier teams.

Meanwhile, Spain, who previously qualified for the 2019 and 2023 World Cups but were disqualified both times for fielding ineligible players, secured their place with a 43-13 win over Switzerland. Their only other World Cup appearance was in 1999, where they lost all three of their pool matches.

A dominant all-round performance from MI Cape Town propelled them to a commanding 76-run victory over Sunrisers Eastern Cape in an exciting Betway SA20 final at DP World Wanderers in Johannesburg.
