Over the objections of the bankrupt US sports broadcaster that presently broadcasts Suns regular-season games, the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury announced a new television and streaming rights deal for their basketball games on Friday.
The Suns and Mercury announced in a statement that they will work with Grey Television Inc. and video technology firm Kiswe to stream all locally aired games online and on television.
According to Suns and Mercury owner Mat Ishbia, the agreement will improve the clubs’ access to customers who have discontinued their cable subscriptions, potentially enabling them to reach three times as many fans for each game.
