Wimbledon: 16-year-old Sabalenka Books Semi-final Spot beating Keys

World number two Aryna Sabalenka moved into the Wimbledon semi-finals with a 6-2 6-4 win over American Madison Keys on Wednesday.

The Belarusian, who roared to victory on Court One will face either Ons Jabeur or defending champion Elena Rybakina in the semis.

Second seed Sabalenka, 25, broke in the first game of the match, converting a fourth break point with a sweet backhand that sailed just over the net and out of the reach of Keys.

She broke the American 28-year-old again, giving her no time to think and launching every ferocious shot with a matching howl.

After 38 minutes, Sabalenka served out the set and appeared to be the favourite to advance to her second All England Club semifinal after doing so in her previous outing in 2021.

Keys showed more grit and tenacity in the second set as she pursued her first Wimbledon semi-final. The American held service at 3-2 with a backhand winner and pumped her fist while yelling “come on” as she attempted to tie the match.
