In exchange for their contributions, Langston Galloway, John Jenkins, and Eric Mika helped USA Basketball earn a spot in this summer’s FIBA World Cup.
They are among the 14 athletes named Monday to the USA Basketball Men’s Select Team, which will assemble in Las Vegas the following week to train with the American World Cup team in preparation for the competition that begins on August 25 in Manila.
Additionally chosen for the select team were Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams of Oklahoma City, Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren of Detroit, Jalen Green of Houston, Quentin Grimes of New York, Herb Jones and Trey Murphy of New Orleans, Keegan Murray of Sacramento, Payton Pritchard of Boston, and Naz Reid of Minnesota.
Jamahl Mosley of Orlando will lead the team, with help from Jim Boylen of Indiana and Matt Painter of Purdue. For the United States, Galloway participated in five of the last six World Cup qualifying cycles.
Each of Jenkins and Mika participated in two of those windows, during which the Americans assembled basically a different team each time, primarily made up of G League players.
