Following a positive doping test, Olympic pole vault champion Thiago Braz has been temporarily barred from all events, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Friday night.
A regular test revealed that the 29-year-old Brazilian had residues of the performance-enhancing substance ostarine in his pee.
According to a Xinhua article, he will appear before a tribunal hearing and, if found guilty, could be subject to a four-year suspension.
The AIU withheld the time of the sample’s collection. Braz participated in two Diamond League competitions throughout Europe during the month of July and is currently getting ready for the World Championships in Budapest.
Braz took home the gold from the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the bronze from the Tokyo Olympics in 2009.
