Italy, Turkey in joint bid to co-host Euros 2032

According to UEFA, Italy and Turkey have requested to co-host the 2032 European Championship, for which they are the only bidders. The two football federations were in a bid-off that will be decided by a vote of the UEFA executive committee on October 10.

In April, Italy revealed its bid for the 2032 competition. Shortly after, Turkey submitted its bid for both the 2028 and 2032 competitions. The top two contenders for the 2028 competition were Turkey and the joint bid from the four United Kingdom federations and Ireland, while the top two contenders for the 2032 championship were Italy and Turkey.

Turkey’s withdrawal from the 2028 competition is implied by the agreement between Italy and Turkey, leaving one bid open for each of the two competitions. UEFA stated that it would work with the national football associations of both nations to ensure the technical specifications of their candidature are met.

“UEFA will now work with the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) and TFF (Turkish Football Federation) to ensure that the documentation to be submitted for their joint bid is compliant with the bidding requirements,” read the UEFA statement on Friday.
