McIntosh wins the women’s 400 medley world championship

Summer McIntosh of Canada won the women’s 400-meter individual medley at the swimming world championships on Sunday.

McIntosh finished the race in 4 minutes, 27.11 seconds, ahead of Australian Jenna Forrester and Americans Katie Grimes and 4:31.41, respectively.

The 16-year-old set a new 400m IM world record at the Canadian trials in April with a time of 4:25.87. She had already won gold in the women’s 200-meter butterfly earlier this week in Fukuoka.

She won bronze in the 200-meter freestyle event. McIntosh didn’t win a medal after shattering the 400m freestyle world record earlier this year.

In Fukuoka, Australian Ariarne Titmus won the 400m freestyle, breaking McIntosh’s previous record.
