A 2024 eSports World Cup has been announced by Saudi gamer royal.

Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that it will host an eSports World Cup beginning in 2019. This is the latest development in a sector that the kingdom hopes could generate tens of thousands of employment in the region. Since the 38-year-old became the heir apparent six years ago, Saudi Arabia has made significant investments in the gaming industry. Prince Mohammed is reported to be an ardent player who enjoys Call of Duty in particular.

 

The kingdom’s well-funded sovereign wealth fund, Savvy Games Group, unveiled last year the crown prince’s $38 billion investment plan.

 

By 2030, 39,000 new eSports-related employment are anticipated to be created.
