Akhil Sheoran won the bronze medal and an Olympic quota in the 50-meter rifle 3-position event at the World Championship on Sunday in Baku, Azerbaijan, only missing out on the silver by 0.1 of a point.
India won the team gold, one point ahead of Austria, thanks to Akhil, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, and Niraj Kumar.
Akhil was happy to earn India’s fifth Olympic quota and place second in the current World Championship behind Mehuli Ghosh’s performance in the air rifle. With three gold and three bronze, India was second in the medal count.
With seven gold, three silver, and three bronze medals, China took first place.
