Bearman sets a record in the Formula One drive

Oliver Bearman, who is eighteen years old, made his Formula One practise debut on Friday in Mexico City, making history as the youngest driver from the United Kingdom to compete in a championship grand prix weekend. As part of the need for teams to give rookies track experience, the Ferrari-backed Formula Two driver took over race regular Kevin Magnussen’s Ferrari-powered Haas car for the hour-long practise at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Ayao Komatsu, the director of trackside engineering for the team, stated that Bearman had surpassed expectations.  Next month, at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Bearman will also participate in practise. Lando Norris, of McLaren, participated in a practise session at the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix at the age of 18, becoming the youngest British driver to do so before.
