The Premier League team announced on Tuesday that Bill Kenwright, the chairman of Everton, passed away at the age of 78. Following Philip Carter in 2004, Kenwright became Everton’s longest-serving chairman, having held the position for over a century. Everton reported that he died quietly on Monday night in the company of his loved ones. The statement from the club said, “The club has lost a chairman, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration.”
Everton had 12 top eight finishes in his 19 seasons as chairman, including fourth in 2005. They also qualified for six European events and made it to the 2009 FA Cup final.
