Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden defeated Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo in straight sets to advance to the men’s doubles quarterfinals at the Paris Masters.
Zverev and Melo, an unseeded German-Brazilian combo, were defeated 6-4, 7-6(5) by Bopanna-Ebden, the third-seeded Indo-Australian duo.
Bopanna and Ebden have earned a spot in the season-ending ATP Finals, which will be the Indian’s fourth time participating. At the Australian Open, Bopanna and Ebden started the season with a winning run, with the Indian becoming the oldest man to reach the top of the world rankings at 43 years, 331 days. A Miami Open championship was eventually added to their list of accomplishments.
Only the top eight doubles teams in the world compete in the ATP Finals, which will take place in Turin from November 10–17.
