Canada’s Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps won gold in the pairs competition at the World Figure Skating Championships. After skating to “Interview With a Vampire” in the free programme, the two-time national champions scored a personal-best total of 221.56 points.
They won the short programme on Wednesday, gaining a 3.95-point lead, and then dethroned incumbent champions Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara of Japan with a personal-best 144.08.
Miura and Kihara received the highest free programme score (217.88), but finished in second. Germany’s Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin won bronze (210.40).
