Indian chess Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi defeated world champion Magnus Carlsen in round seven of the preliminaries of the Aimchess Rapid online chess tournament. The 19-year-old, who made a losing start in the event after being defeated by Vidit Santosh Gujrathi, is currently at the fifth spot after eight rounds. The victory over Norwegian superstar Carlsen in the seventh round was Erigaisi’s first over the world champion. He has won three straight games, beating Nils Grandelius (Sweden), Daniel Naroditsky (USA) and Carlsen.
