Jonatan Christie of Indonesia won his maiden All England Open men’s singles badminton title in Birmingham, defeating compatriot Anthony Sinisuka Ginting 21-15 and 21-14. Christie earned his first Super 1000 victory, defeating close friend Ginting for the first time since 2019. Christie had to fight back from Ginting in both games before the 26-year-old won Indonesia’s first men’s singles title at badminton’s oldest major competition in 1994. Ginting, reflecting his lengthy affiliation with Christie, stated, “My first memory of Jonatan is our first day on the national team. We were juniors, which meant we were just 16 or 17 years old.
In the men’s doubles final, Indonesians Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto retained their championship after defeating Malaysians Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 21-16, 21-16.
