England and Manchester United legend, Bobby Charlton passes away

Bobby Charlton, one of the best strikers in English history, passed away on Saturday. One of the survivors of the catastrophic Munich plane crash that destroyed a promising Manchester United team, Charlton is a legendary character in English football. He went on to play a crucial part in both the club’s comeback and England’s World Cup victory in 1966. In a statement released by Manchester United, Charlton’s family said that he passed away on Saturday while surrounded by his loved ones.

With Charlton’s passing, the only remaining member of the team that won England’s lone World Cup championship is Geoff Hurst. Furthermore, Dennis Law is the final component of the Manchester United trio that, along with George Best and Charlton, once controlled the football fields of both England and Europe.
