Youngsters Shiva Narwal and Esha Singh won the mixed team 10m air pistol event on Friday in Baku, Azerbaijan, giving India its first gold medal of the 2023 ISSF World Championships.
Esha, 18, and Narwal, 17, maintained excellent form throughout the day.
First, they won the 65-pair qualification round with an overall score of 583, then they defeated Yusuf Dikec and Sevval Tarhan of Turkey to win the gold medal match 16-10.
Along with the bronze for the air pistol team, it provided the Indian contingent a second medal. China, with five gold and two bronze medals thus far, is presently ahead of India in the overall medal count.
In the qualification round, which consisted of 30 shots total, Esha and Narwal both demonstrated excellent shooting, with the former earning a score of 293 and the latter of 290.
