France submits the Alps’ candidature to host the Winter Olympics in 2030

On the eve of hosting the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, France presented its candidature to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Paris.

According to French Olympic Committee President David Lappartient, the thirty-minute presentation met its goal of demonstrating a united front among the several areas participating, from Nice to Haute-Savoie.

Rival applicants Sweden and Switzerland also presented their designs to the IOC on Tuesday, according to Lappartient.

The IOC Executive Board will convene in Paris from November 29 to December 1 to pick which candidates to interview. France has hosted the Winter Olympics three times: once in Chamonix in 1924, once in Grenoble in 1968, and once in Albertville in 1992.
