In the ongoing 2023 World Cup Twenty20 match in Mumbai on Tuesday, South Africa defeated Bangladesh by 149 runs thanks in large part to a brilliant batting performance by Quinton de Kock. Bangladesh’s top order was shaken early on in Chasing 383 by players like Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen. Jansen and Rabada claimed the wickets of Bangladesh’s openers Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das, who were dismissed for 12 and 22, respectively. In the meantime, Jansen scored another goal to eliminate Najmul Hossain Shanto for a touchdown. Meanwhile, Lizaad Williams easily defeated captain Shakib Al Hasan (1). Mahmudullah, who batted at number six, was Bangladesh’s lone bright point in the second innings, smashing his third World Cup century (111 off 111 balls). However, he failed to find a good partner, thus his knock had no effect, and Bangladesh was finally bowled out for 233 in 46.4 overs. Gerald Coetzee, aside from Jansen’s two-wicket haul, claimed three dismissals. In the meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada and Lizaad Williams both claimed two wickets.
In the meantime, South Africa chose to bat and once again put on a fantastic display with the bat, stacking the scoreboard with a massive 382/5. Quinton de Kock was out to Hasan Mahmud after scoring 174 off 140 deliveries. The 60(69) scorer Aiden Markram provided him with excellent help.
Henrich Klaasen, who has made a significant impression in the competition, struck for ninety-nine in just forty-nine balls. After that, David Miller completed the innings flawlessly and came back unscathed at 34(15).
Bangladesh had earlier made two early injections and gotten off to a strong start when Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped Rassie van der Dussen LBW for 1(7) and Shoriful Islam removed Reeza Hendricks for 12(19). After that, Markram and De Kock assisted Proteas in rallying, adding 131 off 137 for the third wicket till Markram was dismissed for 60 (69) by Shakib. After then, De Kock finished his tonne, his third of the World Cup.
