ICC Cricket World Cup: The Netherlands defeats Bangladesh to record their largest victory in ODI World Cup history.

At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Netherlands defeated Bangladesh by 87 runs, recording its greatest victory in the history of the ODI World Cup.

The Dutch’s greatest victory in ODI World Cup history came in 2003, when they defeated Namibia 64 runs at Bloemfontein during the South African World Cup. The Netherlands’ victory over Bangladesh marked their second triumph at the 2023 World Cup, following their shocking loss to South Africa earlier in the group stages. After five attempts, this is the first time the Netherlands has won several games in a single World Cup edition. The Netherlands chose to bat first and scored 229 in their 50 overs, led by captain Scott Edwards’ 68 and Wesley Barresi’s 41.

In response, Bangladesh was bowled out for 142 in 42.2 overs thanks to two wickets from Bas De Leede and four wickets from Paul Van Meekeren.

Next up, on November 3, the Netherlands takes on Afghanistan in Lucknow, and on October 31, Bangladesh takes on Pakistan in Eden Gardens.
