Iga Swiatek was named WTA Player of the Year for the first time on Monday after rising to No. 1 in April and remaining there for the rest of the season, thanks in part to two Grand Slam titles. The 21-year-old Polish Swiatek from Poland, who was named 2020 WTA Newcomer of the Year, led the tour with eight titles and 67 wins.This included six straight trophies during a 37-match winning streak that lasted from February to July, the longest unbeaten streak in women’s tennis in a quarter century.
