Indian Grand Prix 5 2023 athletics: Kishore Jena triumphs in the javelin throw.

Having performed at the Budapest World Championships a month ago, Kishore Jena and Amoj Jacob maintained their strong form to earn gold medals at the Indian Grand Prix 5 2023 athletics on Sunday in Chandigarh.

In the javelin throw, Kishore Jena’s first effort, which measured 82.53 metres, was his best. His next three throws measured 80.74, 81.56, and 78.39 metres. The 28-year-old athlete finished with 78.98m after fouling on his fifth attempt.  All of Kishore Jena’s legal throws were farther than Vikas Yadav, who came in second with a distance of 72.88 metres. Harish Kumar of Rajasthan finished third with a throw of 71.78 metres.

Amoj Jacob won the men’s 400m race in Chandigarh. He was a member of the team that broke the men’s 4×400 Asian record last month at the world championships. He beat out Olympian Noah Nirmal Tom for the gold medal by crossing the finish line in 45.92 seconds. Silver went to Noah Nirmal Tom in 46.55 seconds, and bronze went to Karnataka’s Nihal William in 46.76 seconds.
