Jake Hughes breaks the indoor world speed record in Formula E

With an enormous speed of 218.71 km/h, Jake Hughes, driving the electric Formula E race car GENBETA, smashed the indoor land-speed record, adding a new milestone to the list of Guinness World Records.

The current land-speed record, which was achieved in February 2021, was 165.2 kph.

In the ‘Duels’ format, Lucas di Grassi of the Mahindra Racing team and Hughes of Britain, who was driving for the McLaren Formula E Team, faced off against each other.

Di Grassi and Hughes, who were both competing in their debut Formula E season, shared a similar GENBETA vehicle. Di Grassi battled Hughes hard, reaching 218.18 kph.

The GENBETA car’s technological advancements were complemented with generative artificial intelligence (AI) from Google Cloud that was used to analyse the drivers’ runs.

Hughes and Di Grassi were able to create recommendations for speed, power, and grip by analysing real-time telemetry data using their industry-leading technology, Vertex AI.

In order to improve their strategy across their three efforts, they were able to connect and communicate with an interface.
