Lando Norris secured his first-ever Formula One win

Lando Norris claimed his first Formula One victory in a surprising win over world champion Max Verstappen at the Miami Grand Prix. Norris, racing for McLaren in his 110th race, finished over seven seconds ahead of Verstappen, with Charles Leclerc from Ferrari coming in third.

Verstappen, starting from pole position, had won four out of the first five races of the season and was leading the championship standings. Initially, it seemed like he was going to continue his dominance, leading the race until lap 24 when he made a pit stop, allowing Norris’s McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri to take the lead. Piastri also pitted four laps later, giving Norris the chance to grab the lead, which he held onto until the end of the race.

A crucial moment came on lap 30 when Norris was able to pit during a safety car period, giving him a time advantage that he maintained until the finish line.

The safety car was deployed after Kevin Magnussen made contact with Logan Sargeant, causing the American Williams driver to hit the wall and bringing out the yellow flag. Norris made the most of this opportunity, while Verstappen struggled to catch up, securing his first-ever win in Formula One.
