Novak Djokovic withdraws from the Toronto Masters

Novak Djokovic, a 23-time Grand Slam winner, has withdrawn from next month’s Toronto Masters, an ATP Masters 1000 competition in Canada, claiming fatigue as the cause.

The Serbian has a 37-7 record and four ATP Masters 1000 titles on his name. He last participated in the competition in 2018.

“I’ve always enjoyed my stays in Canada, but after talking with my team, we think it’s the right decision to make. I would like to thank Karl Hale, Tournament Director, for understanding this decision. I really hope to have other opportunities to play in Canada, and in Toronto, in front of great spectators,” Djokovic was quoted by the tournament website.

Due to Djokovic’s withdrawal, Christopher Eubanks, will be automatically accepted into the main draw. By progressing to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, Eubanks distinguished himself, notably defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas and Cameron Norrie.
