Around 500 people, including 42 Indians and a few Olympic and World Championship medalists, will compete for top honours at the Asian Track Cycling Championships, which will be held here from February 21 to 26.
India will host the continental championships for the second time in two years and the sixth overall, following 1989, 2005, 2013, 2017, and 2022.
The championships were held four times in New Delhi, with the continental event taking place in Ludhiana in 2005. Pakistani cyclists will skip the championships because they are “having difficulty obtaining travel documents due to the delay in government formation following the general elections in their country. Cyclists from 18 countries will compete in a variety of categories, including elite, junior, and para races. Asia’s leading nations, including China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Iran, will be strong medal challengers.
