In Singapore, ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani defeated local favorite Jaden Ong 5-1 to win the prized Songhe Singapore Open championship. In an exciting quarterfinal at the Lagoon Billiards Room, Advani defeated former IBSF world snooker champion Dechawat Poomjaeng of Thailand 4-3 to get to the final.
Even if the final score of 5-1 appears unfair, the Indian won the first two sets by rallying from behind to defeat the Singaporean twice to establish a 2-0 lead.
Advani scored a lot of points in the third, so Ong had to step up his offensive to give himself a shot at surviving the championship match’s last phase. Advani won the championship with a 74-6 victory in the decisive game. In November, Advani will defend his world billiards championship in Doha.
