Pankaj Advani wins the World Billiards Championship for the 26th time

Pankaj Advani, an Indian cueist, defeated fellow countryman Sourav Kothari in the final to win the IBSF World Billiards Championship for an incredible 26th time.

In a rematch of their title fight in Kuala Lumpur last year, Advani defeated Kothari 1000–416. This was the competition where he had earned his first world title back in 2005. Advani has won the World Team Billiards Championship once, the “long format” championship nine times, and the “point format” championship eight times. Advani won this tournament’s semi-final match, defeating fellow Indian cueist Rupesh Shah 900-273. The reigning champion broke for 259 and 176, but Shah only broke for 62 in the 900-up format.

In the other half of the draw, Kothari defeated Dhruv Sitwala in his semi-final match, winning 900–756. Sitwala scored 199 and 188, while Kothari had breaks of 223 and 82.
