Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa made a strong comeback in the tiebreaks to defeat reigning World Champion and fellow Indian D. Gukesh, winning the Tata Steel Masters 2025 in Wijk aan Zee.
Praggnanandhaa needed only a draw in the final round against Germany’s Vincent Keymer to secure the title, as Gukesh, who was also a co-leader, lost to Arjun Erigaisi. However, Keymer defeated Praggnanandhaa, giving Gukesh another chance at the title.
The tiebreaks were intense, with both young players showing their determination to win. Praggnanandhaa displayed flawless technique to secure victory, earning his first Masters title.
