Puneri Paltan won the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 final by defeating Haryana Steelers 28-25 in a nail-biting match at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.
This is the Pune-based team’s first title, following a sad loss in the previous season’s finals.
The low-scoring match was designed as a defensive fight, with the two strongest backlines colliding in the summit showdown. However, Puneri Paltan raider Pankaj Mohite emerged as the night’s hero, scoring a crucial nine points and leading his team’s offensive assault, particularly in critical do-or-die situations.
Puneri maintained a small lead throughout the first half of the game. Mohite’s important four-point raid before halftime brought Haryana dangerously close to an all-out, but substitute raider Vishal Tate saved the Steelers with a crucial touch point. The second half remained tense. Paltan ultimately pulled away for an eight-point lead in the final two minutes. Puneri’s strong defensive play, led by right corner Gaurav Khatri’s four tackle points, slowed the game and achieved a historic victory.
Paltan’s captain, Aslam Inamdar, was named the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) after scoring 142 raid points and 23 tackle points. Their vice-captain, Mohammadreza Chiyaneh, earned the Best Defender award but fell one tackle point shy of equaling the record of 100, while Daband Delhi’s Ashu Malik received the Best Raider trophy for his 276 raid points.
