Rahm breaks the record for most money made on the PGA Tour in a season

On Sunday, Jon Rahm came up short in his attempt to successfully defend his Mexico Open title; however, the Spaniard’s second-place performance established a new record for the most money won on the PGA Tour in a single season.

The world’s top-ranked Rahm earned $839,300 for placing second at Vidanta Vallarta, raising his season earnings for the 2022–23 season to $14,462,840. Rahm has won four PGA Tour events this season, including the Masters.

The previous record, $14,046,910, was set by Scottie Scheffler, the 2022 Masters champion, last year.

Rahm, who was making his second appearance since the Masters, produced a third-round 10-under-par 61 to move into a tie for second place with eventual victor Tony Finau before finishing with a 67 to fall three shots back. Rahm was six shots off the halfway lead.
