The London Marathon set a new record by raising £73.5 million ($98.28 million) for charity, making it the largest annual one-day fundraising event in the world, according to race organizers.
This amount surpassed the previous record of £66.4 million, achieved in 2019, on April 21, when over 53,000 participants completed the 44th edition of the marathon.
In their final report, London Marathon revealed that the 2024 event contributed £73.5 million, bringing the total raised since its first race in 1981 to over £1.3 billion. Additionally, its official online fundraising partner, Enthuse, raised a record £30 million through its platform.
The next London Marathon is scheduled for April 27.
