Salt Lake City submits candidature to host the 2034 Winter Olympics.

Salt Lake City formally submitted its candidature to host the 2034 Winter Olympics, with officials celebrating the occasion as a “monumental day”.

Even though there are no other towns in the race for the 2034 Games, Salt Lake City organisers have been cautious in their approach to the bidding process, but they couldn’t contain their joy as they pushed the button submitting the formal application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Salt Lake City 2034 and France 2030 have been chosen as the preferred hosts for the Winter Olympics in November. The Preferred Host Submission included Salt Lake’s Games vision and concept, as well as site drawings, sustainability studies, and financial details.

Guarantees from federal, state, and municipal governments, as well as agreements for venue use, accommodation, and marketing rights will be submitted in late.

The Utah capital, which hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002, previously planned to apply for the 2030 Games but withdrew owing to its proximity to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
