Scottish runner barred from ultramarathon for “using vehicle”

A Scottish runner’s third-place finish in an ultramarathon was revoked after data revealed that she had used a vehicle for a portion of the course, according to the race director.

The BBC claimed that JoasiaZakrzewski, who competed for Scotland in the marathon at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, hired a car for a 4 km section of the GB Ultras Manchester to Liverpool 80 km race on April 7.

Wayne Drinkwater, the director of the race, reported that he had learned of a runner who had obtained a “unsporting, competitive advantage during a section of the event.”

Zakrzewski has not made any public remarks regarding the event, and Reuters was unable to reach her for comment right away.
