Indian shuttlers HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma are out of the men’s singles category at the French Open Super 750 tournament after suffering contrasting defeats. In the pre-quarterfinal round on Thursday night, Prannoy, a Thomas Cup champion, lost to China’s Lu Guang Zu 19-21 22-20 19-21, while Sameer fell short to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn 18-21 11-21. Along with Prannoy and Sameer Verma, shuttler Kidambi Srikanth too took a leave from the tournament, losing to Rasmus Gemke of Denmark 21-19 12-21 19-21 in a match that lasted one hour and fifteen minutes.
